Shin Lim is a sleight-of-hand magician, and the good reviews are about the hands. Of the 285 at four and five stars, 27.4% mention cards, close-up work or sleight of hand, and 21.4% mention America's Got Talent, the show that made him famous.
“The show flows along and as closely as you watch his hands, you can't figure out how he does what he does.”
— TripAdvisor, 5 stars, August 2021
Close-up card magic is small, so the show puts it on big screens, and some good reviews say that is what makes it work.
“It's often difficult to watch a card magic show as it's very personal and close up but Shin and his team made it possible with huge screens and production.”
— TripAdvisor, 5 stars, May 2026
The trade-off: a show built on sleight of hand rewards people who love watching hands at close range. If you want big illusions and a lot of variety, that is a different kind of magic show.
The complaint: the same trick
We read the 38 low-rated reviews and classified each by its main complaint. The largest group, 14, says the show repeats the same card trick or is slow.
| Main complaint, read one by one | Reviews |
|---|---|
| 🔁 The same card trick, slow or monotonous | 14 |
| ➖ Other reasons | 9 |
| 📺 Watching it on the screens, or tricks that looked pre-recorded | 6 |
| ❌ The show was cancelled (all early 2022) | 4 |
| 💺 The theater, seats or ushers | 3 |
| 📡 Already seen on TV | 2 |
“Unfortunately Shin Lin, contrary to the title of his show, appears to be limited to only card tricks.”
— TripAdvisor, 1 star, April 2023
“He is basically doing the same card trick over and over.”
— TripAdvisor, 2 stars, March 2025
Measured another way, language about repetition, such as "the same trick", "over and over" or "basically the same", appears in 31.6% of the low-rated reviews and in 0.4% of the good ones, and the gap holds in short and long reviews. The one good review that uses that language is rebutting it.
“People are complaining that it is "much the same stuff of him producing cards and vanishing them again" This is very short-sighted.”
— TripAdvisor, 5 stars, May 2026
The trade-off: the same feature, a whole show of card work, is what the fans come for and what the unhappy reviewers could not sit through. If card magic on TV left you wanting more, this is the show; if a few minutes of it was enough, it may not be.
Watching on the screens
The second group of complaints, 6 of the 38, is about the screens: the close-up work is shown on large screens, and some reviewers felt they were watching a broadcast rather than a stage.
“Even if you are in the front row, you cannot see anything without viewing it on the large CCTV screens.”
— TripAdvisor, 2 stars, March 2020
Where you sit changes how much of the stage you see directly; what reviewers say about seats across Las Vegas shows is in our article on show seats.
The trade-off: the screens are how a few hundred people can watch card magic at all, and they put a camera between you and the hands. Sitting close helps with the stage, not with the cards.
A new theater, and a new show
The reviews cover two eras. Colin Cloud, a mentalist who performed alongside Shin Lim, is named in 169 of the 342 reviews, written between 2019 and 2024 and once in 2025, and The Mirage is named until mid-2024. Since then the show has moved: The Venetian Resort lists it at The Palazzo Theatre, Wednesday to Sunday at 7:30 pm in October 2026, for audiences aged 4 and up, and quotes Shin Lim describing an all-new show with a new set.
The 72 reviews written in 2025 and 2026 average 4.17 stars, against 4.43 for the 270 written before. That is a small sample for a new production, and it is too early to say whether the repetition complaint belongs to the old show or the new one: it appears in both periods.
The age guidance is the resort's; what reviewers say about shows with children is in our article on Las Vegas shows with kids.
“The Palazzo theatre is great, nice seats, comfortable temps, and not too close to neighbors.”
— TripAdvisor, 5 stars, July 2026
“The show is listed at The Venetian Theatre, but we had to ask around because the entrance seemed to be inside The Palazzo side of the resort—confusing signage, so give yourself a bit of extra time to find it.”
— TripAdvisor, 4 stars, June 2025
The trade-off: most of what reviewers say describes a show that no longer exists in that form. The core, Shin Lim's card work, is the same performer; the production around it is new.

Method and Limits
This article reads 342 TripAdvisor reviews of the Shin Lim: LIMITLESS listing, collected without filtering by rating and written between 2019 and 2026; reviews published twice were counted once. Of those, 285 are at four or five stars, 19 at three and 38 at one or two.
The 38 low-rated reviews were read and classified one by one by their main complaint; the groups are given as counts. Percentages among all reviews are found by pattern and then read, and language that a good review uses to rebut a complaint is counted as language, not as a complaint. Most reviews describe the show at The Mirage, before it moved to The Palazzo Theatre; the 72 written in 2025 and 2026 are reported separately.
Quotes are reproduced exactly as written, including the writers' spelling, and each was checked word for word against the stored review. The venue, schedule and age guidance were read on The Venetian Resort's page in October 2026; show times, prices and the production change.
